Counterfeit Notre Dame-Georgia Tickets May Surface

Sept. 6, 2017

College football fans purchasing tickets to the University of Notre Dame home football game Saturday night at Notre Dame Stadium against the University of Georgia should be aware that there may be counterfeit tickets in the marketplace. Deputy athletics director Jim Fraleigh warns Irish fans to be extremely careful when they consider obtaining Notre Dame football tickets through non-University sources.

“We have received a number of calls from fans questioning the legitimacy of tickets they have purchased from various sources, and that suggests the potential for counterfeit tickets strongly exists this week,” Fraleigh says.

The Notre Dame-Georgia game has featured high demand and the contest has been sold out for weeks, but fans may still be able to locate seats through the secondary ticket market.

“Guaranteed sources for Notre Dame football tickets are only through the Notre Dame ticket office or through the Notre Dame Ticket Exchange (https://ticketexchange.und.com/) powered by Vivid Seats. Vivid is the only authorized reseller of Notre Dame tickets, with all those transactions guaranteed. Fans buying tickets from other secondary market sources assume all the risk.”

Individuals suspecting they have counterfeit tickets in their possession should contact their local law enforcement agency to report details as soon as possible. The investigating law enforcement agency then can contact the Notre Dame Counterfeit Ticket Task Force via the Notre Dame Security Police for assistance by calling 574-631-5555 and asking for Capt. Rick Miller.

Clues to counterfeit tickets include fuzzy printing, rough cuts or perforations and mismatched fonts. Notre Dame football tickets printed on Ticketmaster stock are certainly counterfeit.
