NOTRE DAME, Ind. – Coming off one of the best performances of his career, Notre Dame junior midfielder Bryan Costabile earned ACC Player of the Week status on Monday afternoon for his performance in the win.
Costabile matched his career high in goals for a game with five in the win over No. 8 Syracuse on Saturday. The five goals and points were the most by an Irish player in the 13-10 victory. The midfielder has now recorded four hat tricks this season and has posted five goals in a game twice this season.
The accolade is the second weekly honor the Irish have earned this season from the ACC, joining teammate Brendan Gleason who also earned the honor after the overtime win over Maryland.
Costabile, placed on The Tewaaraton Award Watch List, has proved to be one of the most lethal shooters in the game this season. The midfielder paces the Irish in goals with 23 and is second on the squad in points with 25.
Costabile and the Irish hit the road for another top 10 conference showdown against Duke. The game is set to start at noon ET on Saturday April 6 at Koskinen Stadium. The game will be broadcast on ESPNU.
