Colson's Big Week Reaps Awards

University of Notre Dame men’s basketball junior forward Bonzie Colson’s memorable week of basketball from February 7 through February 12, 2017, has earned the New Bedford, Massachusetts, native a number of awards from different organizations, web sites and the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Colson led the Irish to a key 2-0 week in ACC competition as the Irish defeated Wake Forest 88-81 and followed up with a 84-72 victory over No. 14/15 Florida State. Against the Demon Deacons, Colson scored a season-high 27 points with 16 rebounds and a career-best five blocks. He took it up another level against the Seminoles, pouring in a career-high 33 points with 13 rebounds and two steals.

COLSON NOTABLES:

– As a member of the Wooden Award Late Season Top 20 and the Naismith Award Top 30, Colson is the only player on both lists to shoot .500 from the field, .800 at the free throw line, average over 10.0 rebounds per game and block 40 shots.

– Colson leads the ACC in rebounding (10.8), double-doubles (16) and 10-rebound performances (17). He is the only ACC player ranked in the conference top 10 for rebounds (1st), FT% (7th, .817) and FG% (7th, .510).

– Should Colson maintain his ACC leading rebound average, he would be the first player under 6-6 (Colson is 6-5) to lead the conference in rebounding since Grady Wallace from South Carolina in 1957.
