Associate Athletics Director (Facilities)
Vic Saavedra joined the Notre Dame athletics department as Associate Athletics Director for Facilities in August 2017. A 1995 Notre Dame graduate, he previously served the University’s Facilities, Design and Operations office where he worked as an architect and project manager since 2005.
During his time with the Facilities, Design and Operations office, Saavedra served as project manager for several athletics-related projects, including the Harris Family Track & Field Building, the Eck Baseball Team Room addition, the McConnell Family Boathouse, Alumni Stadium, Arlotta Stadium, the LaBar Practice Complex, Melissa Cook Stadium and batting cages and Stinson rugby field. He was also involved in the Mondo track installation; the conversion of Frank Eck Stadium and Notre Dame Stadium field from grass to synthetic turf; as well as renovations of the men’s and women’s basketball offices and team areas, the Student Welfare and Development offices, Heritage Hall concourse and Gates 1 and 2 common areas, among other projects.
Previously, he worked as architectural manager for Ziolkowski Construction/Design-Build from 2002-05 where he served as designer and architect of record for the new Logan Center facility in South Bend. He was a graduate architect and project manager for DLZ Architects/Engineers from 2000-02 and worked in the same role with James E. Childs and Associates from 1995-2000.
Saavedra holds a National Council of Architectural Registration Boards Certificate, Indiana Architectural License and LEED AP Certificate. He was the Facilities Committee Chairman for St. Joseph’s High School in South Bend from 2014-17, where he developed the long-term maintenance and renewal plan for the high school and Diocese to follow to maintain the new facility and sports venues.
A native of South Bend, Saavedra and his wife Brenda currently reside in Mishawaka and have two children, Max and Jack.
