Bio

Ryan Von Gunten joined the University of Notre Dame women[apos]s swimming and diving program as its director of operations in the summer of 2013 and is entering his second season with the team in 2014-15.

With the Irish, Von Gunten assists in administration, travel, practice setup, film and a variety of other tasks. In addition to working with eight NCAA qualifiers and over 30 student-athletes and coaches in 2013-14, Von Gunten coached the Irish Aquatics swimmers during the summer of 2014.

Prior to coming to Notre Dame, Von Gunten worked in a variety of roles in and around the Bloomington, Ind., area for the last eight years.

After graduating from Ball State in 2004 with a degree in exercise science, he moved on to Indiana University to work toward a Masters in kinesiology with a specialty in sports administration and marketing.

After completing his degree in 2006, Von Gunten began a five-year run in the Hoosiers[apos] athletic department. After finishing a year as a compliance intern, Von Gunten spent three and a half years as compliance coordinator.

Von Gunten[apos]s experience with swimming is extensive as he was on the Tri-State University swimming team from 1999-01.

Immediately prior to coming to Notre Dame, Von Gunten spent time as an assistant coach for the Indiana University Club Paradise swim team, the Bloomington High School South swim team, the Jackson Creek Junior High swim team and lastly with the IU swimming team as a volunteer assistant coach.

While with the Hoosiers for the 2012-13 season, Von Gunten helped coach both teams to a pair of second place finishes at the Big Ten meet and tutored seven all-Big Ten first team selections and seven all-Big Ten second team honorees.
