Bio

Pat Garrity ’98 graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in Science Pre Professional Studies (pre med) from the University of Notre Dame. He was named the Big East Player of the Year for men’s basketball in 1997, the Big East Student Athlete of the Year for men’s basketball in 1998, and the GTE Academic All American of the Year for men’s basketball in 1998. While at the University of Notre Dame, Garrity also performed research aimed at the discovery, characterization and synthesis of novel antibiotic drugs for the organic chemistry laboratory of Dr. Paul Helquist. In 1998, he was one of two honorees for the school’s most prestigious award for student athletes, the Byron V. Kanaley award.

He was drafted 19th overall in the first round of the 1998 NBA draft by the Milwaukee Bucks and traded on draft night to the Phoenix Suns. Garrity played his rookie season in Phoenix before being traded to the Orlando Magic in the summer of 1999. He played nine seasons for the Orlando Magic before retiring following the 2008 season.

Garrity joined the Monogram Club board as a director in 2009, and in 2013, began serving as the club’s treasurer.

Pat resides in Birmingham, Mich., with his wife Paula and their son Henry. He is an avid cyclist and also enjoys fly-fishing, hiking and golf.
