Assistant Athletic Trainer, Women's Rowing
Max Bertman joined the Sports Medicine staff in 2017 with primary coverage for the women’s rowing team.
Previously, Max was a part of the Bruins staff at UCLA for 5 years. He covered a variety of sports that included Women’s Soccer during their 2013 National Championship year, Women’s Tennis (2014 National Runner Up), Women’s water polo (2017 National Runner Up), and Track and Field. Prior to UCLA, Max was and Athletic Trainer at the University of Idaho for two years, working with Men’s Basketball, Cheer and Men’s and Women’s Golf. He also worked six years of football, Men’s and Women’s Swimming/Diving and Baseball at the College of DuPage. Max began his career at Northern Illinois University for two years, working Football and Wrestling.
Max graduated from Graceland University in 2001 with a Bachelors of Arts in Athletic Training. He received his Master’s in Sport Law in 2005 from Norther Illinois University.
Max’s other certifications include: Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers, National Academy of Sports Medicine- Performance Enhancement Specialist, National Academy of Sports Medicine- Corrective Exercises Specialist, Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner +, Graston Technique Approved, Functional Movement Screen and Y-Balance Certified, Selective Functional Movement Assessment Certified and impact Trained Athletic Trainer.
Max is married to his wife, Marie. They have twin daughters, Isla and Olivia, and a younger daughter, Alexandra. They also have two pups named Piper and Knuckles. Max enjoys movies, biking, soccer, volleyball, traveling and Legos.
