Chris Thomas Earns Sixth BIG EAST Rookie of the Week Honor

Notre Dame, Ind. – Irish freshman point guard Chris Thomas (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been named the BIG EAST Rookie of the Week for the sixth time this season after leading Notre Dame to victories over West Virginia (89-76) and Miami (90-77) last week.

Thomas registered double doubles in both contests as he averaged 29.0 points, 12.0 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 steals. He scored 26 points, dished off 12 assists, grabbed three rebounds and made two steals in the win at home against the Mountaineers, and then matched his career-high with 32 points on the road against the Hurricanes. He also had 12 assists, six rebounds and two steals in that contest. Against Miami, he shot eight-of-16 from the field and was six-for-12 from three-point range.

Thomas, who has helped the Irish to a 19-8 record and 9-5 BIG EAST mark, is Notre Dame’s second-leading scorer averaging 16.4 points and 3.3 rebounds. He leads the team in assists (7.56), steals (2.30) and minutes played (37.7).
