Choma & Deehan Sweep ACC Weekly Honors

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Sophomore midfielder Kasey Choma and senior goaltender Bridget Deehan have been named the ACC’s Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon (April 27).

Earlier today, Deehan (First Team) and Choma (Second Team) were among six Irish to earn All-ACC accolades for the 2021 season. They were joined by Samantha Lynch (First Team), Madison Ahern (Second Team), Maddie Howe (Second Team) and Keelin Schlageter (Freshman Team) in earning conference honors.

Choma powered the Irish attack with 11 goals in Notre Dame’s victories over Virginia Tech and #19 Louisville last week. The Manorville, New York, native matched her career-high with six goals against the Hokies before pouring in five markers against Louisville in the season finale. Entering postseason play, Choma leads the Irish with 33 goals and 36 points.

Deehan backstopped the Irish in both wins last week with 12 saves against Virginia Tech and then 11 saves on Senior Day against Louisville. With those performances, Deehan has recorded double-digit saves in seven outings this season. The Milton, Georgia, native paces the ACC with a mark of 9.69 saves per game and currently leads the Irish with 24 ground balls. This marks the third weekly honor of the season for Deehan, who was named the IWLCA & ACC Defensive Player of the Week on March 30 and IWLCA Defensive Player of the Week on April 13.
