BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Notre Dame junior diver Jenny Chiang is heading to the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships for the first time after placing second in the 1-meter event on Thursday afternoon at the NCAA Zone C Diving Championships in Bloomington, Ind.

Chiang, who will make the trip to Auburn, Ala., next weekend for NCAAs with swimming teammates Emma Reaney and Kelly Ryan, scored 598.05 points to finish second. She becomes the first Irish women’s diver to make the NCAAs since Natalie Stitt went in 2009 in the 1-meter.

Freshman Allison Casareto finished 18th with 508.05 points.

Diving action continues tomorrow with the 3-meter dive.
