Chayse Primeau Joins The Irish

SOUTH BEND, Ind.  – The University of Notre Dame hockey team has added forward Chayse Primeau as a graduate transfer for the 2022-23 season. 

Primeau joins the Irish after spending the past four seasons with the University of Omaha (NCHC). He played 117 career games with the Mavericks while scoring 29 goals and adding 43 assists for 72 points. He scored nine goals and had 14 assists for 23 points in each of the last two seasons and was a Second Team All-NCHC honoree following the 2020-21 campaign.

A 6-3, 185-pound native of Margate City, New Jersey, Primeau led the Mavericks in scoring after the abbreviated, conference only 2020-21 season and was fifth on the team in 2021-22. He had two power-play goals and three game winners as a senior. 

Prior to joining the Mavericks, Primeau skated for the Lincoln Stars (2016-17) and the Dubuque Fighting Saints (2017-18) of the USHL.

Primeau majored in Business Administration at Omaha and is the son of Keith and Lisa Primeau and has two brothers, Corey and Cayden, and a sister, Kylie. Keith played in over 900 NHL games, while Cayden is in the Montreal organization and has played 18 games in the Canadiens’ net over the past three seasons. Cayden is currently playing for Laval in the AHL playoffs with former Irish defenseman Tory Dello.
