Chatfield, Jackson Earn All-ACC Honors

University of Notre Dame men’s golf graduate student Davis Chatfield and junior Palmer Jackson have been named to the 2022 All-Atlantic Coast Conference team, as announced by the league on Wednesday, May 11. The duo become the first pair of Irish men’s golfers to earn All-ACC honors in the same season and the third Notre Dame players to earn all-conference awards from the league (Niall Platt, 2014).

The All-ACC Team is decided by a combination of the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin rankings in conjunction with a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

Chatfield and Palmer form the backbone of Notre Dame’s lineup that earned a third-seed in the NCAA Regional at Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, which begins Monday, May 16th, at the PGA National Resort’s Champion Course. The Irish are 15th in the latest Golfstat.com rankings and are focused on becoming the first Notre Dame men’s golf team to advance to the NCAA Championship next week.

Chatfield has posted six top-10 finishes this season and boasts a 71.33 adjusted stroke average in 11 tournaments played. He will bring a streak of six rounds at or below par into the NCAA Regionals, which included a 71-70-72 at the Stitch Intercollegiate in April where he finished tied for second place.

Jackson has been a constant at the top of the leaderboard in every event he has entered this season, finishing out of the top 10 twice in 11 appearances and out of the top five just five times. His 70.15 adjusted stroke average ranks him 16th-best in the Golfstat.com rankings and he is on the Hogan Award and Haskins Award watch lists as one of the top collegiate golfers in the nation. Earlier this month, Jackson became the first Irish golfer to earn a spot on the Palmer Cup Team and finished third at the ACC Championship.
