Chatfield & Jamieson to Compete in US Amateur Championship

Notre Dame, Ind. – Two members of the Notre Dame men’s golf program are set to compete at the US Amateur Championships this week starting on Monday, August 13. Rising sophomores Davis Chatfield and Alex Jamieson will test their skills at both the Spyglass Hill Golf Course and Pebble Beach in California.

Qualifying for the 2018 US Amateur took place at 96 qualifying sites across the country and in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. Chatfield and Jamieson took two of the three spots at the Pawtucket (R.I.) Country Club, with Chatfield claiming the top spot with rounds of 68-68 (-2), while Jamieson got through a 4-for-2 playoff.

Chatfield tees off on hole No. 10 at 11:43 a.m. ET alongside Jack Casler and Patrick Welch. Meanwhile, Jamieson begins his tournament at 4:16 p.m. on hole No. 10 with Devon Bling and Mario Carmona.

The U.S. Amateur begins with two rounds of stroke play with 18 holes at both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hills Golf Course. Following the two rounds, the 312-person field is trimmed to 64 for match play to decide the champion.

Television coverage begins during match play and is set to take place on FS1 Aug. 15 (5-8 pm), Aug. 16 (7-10 pm) and Aug. 17 (7-10 pm). Fox will then carry the semifinals on Aug. 18 from Noon-3 pm and the 36-hole championship match on Aug. 19 from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
