Charley Niego Named ACC Player of the Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Charley Niego was named the ACC’s Player of the Week, the conference announced Sunday afternoon (Dec. 1).

In Friday’s victory over Duke, Niego turned in one of the program’s best individual performances of the decade, recording 20 kills and 20 digs for the first 20-20 outing since Kristen Dealy did so in five sets against Delaware on Sept. 17, 2010. Niego hit .415 for the match and added two aces to cap off her memorable day.

Niego closed the regular season with a career-high 401 kills in 28 matches. The sophomore also paces Notre Dame with 33 aces and is second on the Irish with a career-high 313 digs.
