The University of Notre Dame rowing team took to the Charles River today to compete in the Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston, Massachusetts. The Championship Four (12th, 18:27.243) and Championship Eight (26th, 16:05.609) both posted solid results in the highly competitive field.

The Championship Four of sophomore Mara Bhalla, junior Gen Johanni, junior Kelly Fischer, junior Molly Pierce and sophomore coxswain Laura Schoonmaker finished the course in 18:27.243 to finish 12th out of 16 boats in the field

The Championship Eight lineup of senior Treasa O’Tighearnaigh, sophomore Emily Stinebaugh, junior Elizabeth Schrieber, junior Laura Migliore, senior Lauren Matchett, senior Christine Schindele-Murayama, junior Jennifer Groth, senior Elizabeth Gilbert and senior coxswain Reilly Kearney turned in a solid race against a very talented field, finishing 26th in 16:05.609.

The Head of the Charles is the final competition of the fall semester for the Irish. The 2018 season will begin on St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, at the Cardinal Invitational in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
