Casey Named Academic All-American For Third Straight Season

NOTRE DAME, Ind. — University of Notre Dame men’s soccer standout Jack Casey have been named a 2019 Academic All-American, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. Casey was named to the third team.

The Irish selection brings Notre Dame’s men’s soccer total to 19 CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors since 1995.

Casey becomes just the second Irish player to earn the honor three times, joining former standout Patrick Hodan. Casey earned second team honors following the 2017 & 2018 seasons.

Casey (Morristown, New Jersey) competed in 76 games over three seasons in the Irish midfield. He scored one goal and added 12 assists in his Notre Dame career.

Casey has earned Academic All-America honors for the third straight season. The junior has a GPA of 3.867 while double majoring in economics and political science, and is a three-time Dean’s List recipient. He was also named to the 2016, 2017 and 2018 ACC Academic Honor Roll as part of his outstanding academic achievement.

With the selection, the University of Notre Dame now has 262 Academic All-America selections, spanning from 1952 to 2019.
