GREENSBORO, N.C. – She has been the leader and pacesetter for the University of Notre Dame women’s golf team, not only this season but for much of her four-year career. Thus, it came as little surprise when senior captain Talia Campbell (Dallas, Texas/Ursuline Academy) earned her second consecutive all-Atlantic Coast Conference honor on Wednesday, part of the 12-player all-conference team selected through a vote of the ACC’s 12 head coaches taken following the ACC Championship.

Campbell actually is a three-time all-conference selection, having been named to the 2013 All-BIG EAST Conference squad. In doing so, she becomes the eighth Fighting Irish golfer in the program’s 28-year history to collect three all-league honors, with the previous seven all having done so during Notre Dame’s BIG EAST era – Karen Lotta (2003-05), Katie Brophy (2003-04, 2006), Noriko Nakazaki (2004-07), Annie Brophy (2007-10), Lisa Maunu (2007-09), So-Hyun Park (2008-09, 2011) and Becca Huffer (2009-12).

Senior captain Talia Campbell is the eighth golfer in Notre Dame history to be a three-time all-conference selection, earning her second consecutive all-ACC citation on Wednesday in addition to collecting all-BIG EAST honors in 2013.

Campbell leads the Fighting Irish and ranks eighth in the ACC with a career-low 73.21 stroke average, on pace to be the second-lowest single-season mark in program history. Campbell, who also owns the top career stroke average (74.32) in Notre Dame history, has posted six top-10 finishes this season and been the top Fighting Irish finisher in seven of 10 tournaments in 2015-16, including a season-best runner-up outing at the Mary Fossum Invitational (Sept. 12-13). She also placed ninth at last month’s ACC Championship after shooting two-over par 218, recording her fourth top-15 finish in as many conference tournaments and becoming just the fifth golfer in school history to pull off that feat.

“This is such a well-deserved honor for Talia,” Notre Dame head coach Susan Holt said. “It’s nice to see her consistent play be acknowledged by making the All-ACC Team for the second year in a row. The ACC is a conference with a lot of talented players and it’s a real accomplishment to make this team.”

Campbell and her Fighting Irish teammates are in the midst of final preparations for the 2016 NCAA Birmingham Regional, with 10th-seeded Notre Dame set to begin at 7:30 a.m. CT (8:30 a.m. ET) Thursday from the No. 10 tee at the historic Shoal Creek Club in Birmingham, Alabama. Live scoring for the NCAA Birmingham Regional will be available online through Golfstat (Golfstat.com).
