Buck Loses First Round Consolation Match From 2007 Riviera/ITA All-Americans

Oct. 4, 2007

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. – Notre Dame senior captain Brook Buck dropped her opening consolation match from the qualifying portion of the 2007 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships on Wednesday.

#91 Buck (Yukon, OK) got off to a great start against Alex Haney of Auburn, cruising to a 6-2 victory in the opening set, but dropped the two ensuing sets, 6-2, 6-4. Buck, who lost a tough, three-set affair to #53 Amanda Fink of USC on Tuesday, is 2-3 on the season and 66-30 for her career.

Buck and junior Kelcy Tefft (Enid, OK) will now concentrate on the main draw of doubles, which begins on Thursday. Buck and Tefft, ranked ninth in the preseason ITA poll, will face a familiar foe. The Irish tandem will play 2nd-ranked Ani Mijacika and Federica van Adrichem of Clemson. The two teams squared off in the opening round of last year’s NCAA Doubles championship. Mijacika and van Adrichem walked away with a 6-4, 7-6 (6) straight set victory.
