COLUMBUS, Ohio – The ninth-ranked doubles team of senior Brook Buck and junior Kelcy Tefft moved into the semifinals of the 2007 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships.
Buck (Yukon, OK) and Tefft (Enid, OK) were actually on the brink of elimination. They trailed Kellie Schmitt and Karolina Soor of Marshall, 7-5, and 30-0, but the Irish duo rallied for a 9-7 victory. Buck and Tefft will face Macall Harkins and Anna Sydorska of TCU for a berth into the title match.
They improve to 10-2 on the season and 69-16 for their career.
Sophomore Cosmina Ciobanu (Brea, CA) picked up a victory over Pavla Mesterova of Loyola Marymount, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 in the consolation draw. She improves to 11-3 on the season and 47-8 for her career.
The National Indoor Championships is the second of three national tournaments for singles and doubles during the 2007-08 collegiate tennis season. The Ohio State University is hosting this week’s championships at the Racquet Club of Columbus.
