NOTRE DAME, Ind. — Senior midfielder Savannah Buchanan has been named the ACC’s Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon (March 10).
Buchanan, a team captain, led all players with five ground balls, five draw controls and three caused turnovers in Notre Dame’s 13-9 victory over #18 Boston College last Sunday.
A preseason Inside Lacrosse All-American and Tewaaraton Watch List honoree, Buchanan is part of an Irish defensive unit that ranks sixth in the country in scoring defense.
The Baltimore, Maryland, native ranks third on the Irish with 18 draw controls and is tied for second with nine ground balls. Buchanan has also collected three goals and five points in five games this season.
