Brook Buck wins ITA Sportsmanship Award

MADISON, Wisc. – Notre Dame senior Brook Buck (Yukon, Okla.) received the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Sportsmanship Award Saturday at the ITA National Women’s Team Indoor Championships.

Buck was chosen for this annual award by the 16 participating coaches for displaying outstanding sportsmanship and exemplifying the spirit of college tennis during the course of the tournament and throughout her career.

Buck has played both No. 1 and No. 2 singles, as well as No. 1 doubles for Notre Dame. She helped lead the Irish to a 4-3 upset over No. 13 William & Mary in the consolation round.

Buck is currently ranked No. 64 in the ITA national singles rankings and No. 3 in doubles. Buck and junior Kelcy Tefft (Enid, Okla.) won the women’s doubles title at the ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Tennis Championships in November.

Buck is the third Notre Dame player to receive the award, joining 1999 winner Jennifer Hall and 1994 winner Wendy Crabtree.
