Brittany Burnham Signs National Letter Of Intent To Join Irish Rowing Program

May 12, 2004

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame rowing coach Martin Stone announced today that Brittany Burnham has signed a national letter of intent and will enroll at the University in the fall of 2004.

Burnham becomes the seventh individual to sign with the Irish rowing program and joins Casey Fairbanks (Hilton Head, S.C.) Ankica Jedry (Chicago, Ill.), Allison Marsh (Cape Cod, Mass.), Lindsay McQuaid (Beaverton, Ore.), Amanda Polk (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Mary Quinn (Plymouth Meeting, Pa.).

Burnham originally from Nantucket, Mass., currently resides in Hilton Head, S.C., and attends Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. She has been a member of the Seawolves’ rowing program for three years. The 6-2 Burnham, who is serving as team captain this season, made the first varsity eight boat as a novice rower in her sophomore year.

As a junior, she helped Tabor to a sixth-place finish at the New England Championships in the team competition. In addition, her crew finished sixth in the varsity eight race. Burnham rowed in both the 2002 and ’03 Head of the Charles races. This season, she is one of just two returning rowers from last year’s varsity eight crew.

“Brittany is a strong addition to an already outstanding class for us,” Stone says. “Her greatest asset is her height which fills a need for us. We’re excited that she is joining our program.”
