NOTRE DAME, Ind. – In helping the Irish to a pair of 3-0 sweeps over the weekend against Georgetown and Villanova, Notre Dame volleyball student-athlete Maggie Brindock has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.
Brindock, who is sixth in the BIG EAST in assists per set (9.38), recorded 59 assists, eight kills, 12 digs and three blocks as the Irish won their sixth straight match to improve to 15-6 and 8-1 in the BIG EAST.
In a 3-0 win over Georgetown on Friday, the junior had 29 assists, six kills and six digs while hitting .857. The Rockwall, Texas native followed that performance up with 30 assists, two kills, six digs and three blocks in a 3-0 sweep of Villanova on Sunday.
For the season the tri-captain has turned in 13 matches with 30 or more assists, including seven matches with 40 or more.
Brindock and the Irish return home for a 7 p.m. match on Friday with Pittsburgh in the Joyce Center’s North Dome. The NBA’s Chicago Bulls and Indiana Pacers will occupy Purcell Pavilion that night as the two squads meet in an exhibition contest at 7 p.m. On Sunday the Irish welcome in USF for their annual Dig Pink match. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
