Book Named To Davey O'Brien Great 8 List

NOTRE DAME, Indiana — Notre Dame graduate student quarterback Ian Book earned a spot on the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 List for Week 8 with his performance in the Irish’s 45-3 win at Pittsburgh. It marks the fourth time in Book’s career that he has been named to the Great 8 list, and his first appearance in 2020.

Book, the sole ACC representative on the Week 8 list, completed 16 passes for 312 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 40 yards (including rushes for three first downs) against the ACC’s top-ranked rushing defense.

Book’s three passing touchdowns led all ACC quarterbacks this week, along with his TD pct. (10.0, min. 20 attempts), and his three TD passes ranked second among all Power 5 quarterbacks on the weekend. Just four other Power 5 quarterbacks threw three or more TD passes this week.

His 312 passing yards were the second-most in the ACC for the week, along with his QB rating (173.7). Book’s 73-yard pass to graduate student wide receiver Ben Skowronek was the third-longest pass in the FBS this week and second-longest among ACC quarterbacks.

Book quarterbacked Notre Dame’s offense to post 40:59 minutes of possession time, the most by an ACC team in a single game this season, and fifth-most in a single game among all FBS teams this season. The Irish now lead the ACC in possession time per game (34:11/game).

Notre Dame (5-0, 4-0 ACC) continues its road swing Saturday at Georgia Tech. The game kicks off at 3:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
