Blue-Gold Weekend Registration Now Open!

March 14, 2013

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Monogram Club is pleased to announce that the 2013 Blue-Gold weekend festivities are only a month away, and would like to remind you to register early for this year’s events. The activities will kick off Friday, April 19, with a special young alumni reception held in the Schivarelli Football Players’ Lounge.

The young alumni reception will be open to dues-paying members from the classes of 2003-2012, and up to four guests. The menu will feature complimentary beer and wine paired with “tailgate food”. This is an excellent opportunity to socialize amongst recent alumni, while catching up with fellow Monogram winners from your graduating class.

The excitement continues Saturday, April 20, with a free pre-game luncheon starting at 11 a.m. and finishing at 1:00 p.m. Held in the Monogram Room of the Joyce Center, dues-paying members and up to five guests are invited to enjoy a social atmosphere, complimentary food, and a cash bar.

As the luncheon wraps up, the Blue-Gold game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. General admission tickets are available at a special discounted rate to dues-paying Monogram Club members and their guests. The game is slated to last approximately two hours and will feature returning starters Zach Martin, Everett Golson and Louis Nix.

While the Blue-Gold game is slated to finish at 3:30 p.m., another memorable game will be getting underway shortly thereafter – the annual football alumni flag game. Football monogram winners from the past will again run out of the tunnel to relive their glory days. All Monogram winners are encouraged to come out and support these former student-athletes in their quest for yet one more victory in Notre Dame Stadium.

With a brief reprieve scheduled after flag football, the night and the weekend will conclude with “An Evening with the Monogram Club”, the Club’s Annual Mass, Meeting and Dinner, which will take place in the Monogram Room and Sports Heritage Hall. Mass will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the Annual Monogram Club Meeting, both of which will take place in the Monogram Room. At 6:45 p.m., a cocktail and dinner reception will begin in Sports Heritage Hall and will last until 8 p.m. This reception-style event will feature complimentary beer and wine, hors d’oeuvres and numerous main course options. Monogram winners and their guests will have an opportunity to mingle with special athletics department guests as well.

Part 2 of the evening will feature a special ceremony. Marty Allen, ’58 (football student manager), will be presented with the Club’s highest honor, the Moose Krause Distinguished Service Award. The ceremony will also highlight the Club’s presidential transition, thanking Dick Nussbaum ’74 & ’77 (baseball) for his service while welcoming Haley Scott DeMaria ’95 (swimming) into the position. As the ceremony concludes, a post-dinner reception will be available for those interested in remaining to reminisce with fellow Monogram winners. Complimentary food and beverages will be available until 10 p.m. in Sports Heritage Hall.
