Blue-Gold Post Game Player Quotes

April 22, 2006

Senior Quarterback Brady Quinn
On the atmosphere of today’s game…
“It was fun. Obviously it was good to get back out in front of a lot of people like that. It gives you that sense of what it’s like to come out of the tunnel with the stadium full.”

On his goals this spring…
“My goals coming into the spring initially were to build a relationship with guys like John Carlson and kind of get back on the same page with Rhema (McKnight). Obviously you want to keep building on those fundamental things such as that and building on the mental part of your game. There are some goals I feel really strongly about that we accomplished – I had a good rapport with John, and Rhema and I are definitely getting back to where we were two years ago. A lot of things have been accomplished, though personally I don’t feel as if I did as well as I would have liked in the spring game. I guess it’s tough to go out and show your best, but it was fun and we had a good time.”

Senior Defensive Back Tom Zbikowski
On the impact of a full stadium…
“There was a lot excitement from all of the people coming out, and they made pretty good noise for a spring game. It’s exciting for us players to see that we have that kind of support out there.”

On having the former players present at the game…
“You get to see different personalities of past Notre Dame players. All of them had success while they were here. You see what it takes to have a championship team.”

On his thoughts going into the next season…
“We made strides where we needed to make strides. Obviously there are still some things we need to work on, but I think come fall, we’re going to be ready to be a contender.”

Senior Running Back Travis Thomas
On how it feels to play well in this spring game…
“Anytime you play well, it boosts your confidence and adds motivation. It’s definitely something I can build on for the fall.”
