NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame senior Bill Bass (Chesterton, Ind.) has been named the BIG EAST Athlete of the Week in men’s swimming and diving, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Bass was a key performer for the No. 20 Irish in a 131-112 dual meet victory at Cleveland State last Friday. He earned individual wins in the 100 butterfly (50.58) and the 200 individual medley (1:50.59) to pace Notre Dame as a double race winner.
Bass also swam the fly leg (22.13) of the first place 200 medley relay team that helped extend the Irish dual record to a perfect 6-0 this season.
Notre Dame closes the 2012-13 home schedule Jan. 25-26, when it entertains Harvard and Towson at the annual Shamrock Invitational inside the Rolfs Aquatic Center.
