Beaudreau Leads Irish On First Day Of Westbrook Invitational

PEORIA, Arizona — Freshman Lauren Beaudreau opened the spring in style, firing a four-under par 68 in the first round of the 2020 Westbrook Invitational and following up with a one-under par 71 in the afternoon to sit tied for eighth with one round remaining. 

Results/Scoring

As a team, Notre Dame is tied for 12th, carding a morning round 295 (+7) before rebounding with an impressive 283 (-5) in the afternoon at the Westbrook Village Golf Club. Freshman Madelyn Jones matched Beaudreau’s 68 from the morning in her second round to help key the 283.

Beaudreau’s opening round 68 included an eagle on the par-3 fifth hole. She is tied with three other golfers at five-under par. Denver’s Anna Zanusso leads the field at 14-under par, aided by a course record 61 in the second round.

Jones shot an opening round 75 before her afternoon 68 and is tied for 27th. Her 68 included seven birdies, eight pars and three bogeys. It marked her best round with the Irish, having bested her top single round score from the fall by one stroke. 

Sophomore Claire Albrecht also improved in the afternoon round as she shot a one-under par 71 after carding a 76 in the morning. 

Junior Abby Heck (76-73=149) and senior Mia Ayer went (79-73=152) also had second round improvements. Both of Heck’s rounds counted for the Irish, while Ayer’s second round also scored. 

Playing as an individual, freshman Jessica Meyers shot an even-par 72 in the second round and  is tied for 73rd (79-72=151).
