The Notre Dame football team opened spring practice on March 27 at the Loftus Sports Complex. Throughout the spring, www.und.com will follow the progress of senior flanker Arnaz Battle and senior linebacker Tyreo Harrison.

The following is the seventh interview with Battle:

What is the most influential class you have ever taken at Notre Dame? “I’d say my theology classes, learning the Catholic religion and a wide variety of other religions, and understanding the concepts behind those religions. I come from a Southern Baptist background, so learning about Catholicism at Notre Dame has been interesting.”

What is your favorite place on the on the Notre Dame campus? “Probably Lafortune (student center). It’s a place where you can hang out with other students, get a bite to eat, or study. It’s a big social gathering, like a student union.”

Why is Carroll Hall, the dorm you have lived in for three years, the best dorm on campus? “I like it because it’s away from everything, so you are kind of yourself. I like the people. The rector, residence assistants, and the other guys around make it a great dorm.”

What do you remember most about first coming to Notre Dame as a freshman? “Just the shock of realizing I was in college. Walking around a big college campus here at Notre Dame, seeing all the girls. I remember meeting all the guys on the football team. The environment seemed different, just being away from home. I felt like a took another step toward being an adult.”
