The Notre Dame football team opened spring practice on March 27 at the Loftus Sports Complex. Throughout the spring, www.und.com will follow the progress of senior flanker Arnaz Battle and senior linebacker Tyreo Harrison.

The following is our fourth installment with Arnaz Battle including how he likes to spend his time off the field.

What are some of your hobbies outside of football?

“Hanging out with friends. Also being with guys on the team, especially while traveling.”

Being from Louisiana, how do you handle the cold winters in South Bend?

“I just layer up with clothing when it gets cold. I bring out the winter gear: coats, underwear, long johns, extra socks, and a snowcap.”

What is your greatest non-football achievement?

“Winning student-athlete awards throughout my academic career. It is great to be honored for being able to do both athletics and academics at the same time.

Where do you picture yourself ten years from now?

“Hopefully, I’ll have a couple of years in the pros underneath my belt. Then, I would like to start my own business.”

Where is your favorite place to get a burger in South Bend? What makes that burger so good?

“Burger?”

Or any kind of food?

“I would say Scrimpi’s, a place of Lincoln Way. They really have the only kind of food around town I can relate to as far as the seafood back home. They have shrimp, catfish fillets, and things such as lobster. That’s one of my favorite places to go.”

Picture this Arnaz- It’s the first nice day of Spring, sunny and in the 70’s. You have three options: 1. Study for a test that you could afford to put off for a while. 2. Take a nap. 3. Hang out on the quad. Which option would you chose? Why?

“I would like to get outside and hang out on the quad. I want to experience everything about college. I don’t want to spend four years in a dorm room hibernating like a bear. I love to get out and enjoy college and the people. I like to open up and meet people.”
