BASEBALL AT THE BEACH ¬- The Notre Dame baseball team (1-2) will look to open with a win at the Baseball at the Beach tournament in Myrtle Beach, S.C., as the Irish face UNC Wilmington (3-5) in a late-afternoon game (4:00) … Notre Dame will be sending junior LHP Wade Korpi to the mound, looking to boost his career record to 13-5 (a win would make him 9-2 over the past two seasons and 8-1 in his past nine decisions) … UNCW originally was slated to start freshmen RHP Daniel Cropper – a former teammate of ND freshman catcher Ryan Smith (on the Maryland Monarchs and Team Maryland) – but Cropper is one of several Seahawks players currently sidelined with the flu … UNCW is expected to start another freshman RHP, Sean Doolittle … Doolittle has made just one relief appearance this season (1.2 IP, 3 H, R, HB) … UNCW swept Temple (5-4, 7-4, 15-3) while suffering losses to Western Kentucky (2-4), Oklahoma (5-10), South Carolina (8-9), Coastal Carolina (6-8) and UNC (5-6).
