Brittney Bargar leads Notre Dame with an 11-5 record from the circle this season.

Bargar Repeats As League's Pitcher Of The Week

March 17, 2008

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – University of Notre Dame softball junior Brittney Bargar was named the BIG EAST Conference’s Pitcher of the Week on Monday, claiming the honor for the second time in as many weeks.

Bargar turned in a 0.41 ERA over three appearances at Charleston Southern’s Lowcountry Collegiate Softball Invitational last week to earn a spot on the event’s all-tournament team. She pitched her way to three wins from the circle – including to shutouts – while giving up only 13 hits in 17.1 frames. Bargar struck out 12 batters over that interval and allowed one earned run.

In her 18 appearances this season, Bargar has not let an earned run cross the plate in a dozen of those outings. She has allowed only three earned runs score for a 0.39 ERA since March 1, covering 11 contests and 53.2 innings of work in that timeframe.

The Irish are scheduled to travel to Western Michigan for a March 18 doubleheader against the Broncos, which starts at 3:30 p.m. (ET).
