Bandy, Schnurrenberger Win First-Round Matches At ITA All-American Championships

TULSA, Okla.– Notre Dame men’s tennis players senior Ryan Bandy and sophomore Eric Schnurrenberger both won their first-round matches on day one of the prequalifying draw of the 2013 ITA Men’s All-American Championships. The tournament is hosted by the University of Tulsa at the Michael D. Chase Tennis Center.

Bandy handily beat Brady Bohrnstedt of Oklahoma State, 6-2, 6-2. Bandy will play his next match tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. against Juan Pablo Boada of Winthrop University.

Schnurrenberger beat Texas A&M’s Francisco Colunga, 6-3, 6-4. He will play his second-round match tomorrow at 1 p.m. against an opponent still to be determined.

Bandy and Schnurrenberger’s teammates senior Greg Andrews and sophomore Quentin Monaghan will start play in the tournament later this week. Monaghan enters the qualifying round Monday, Sept. 30 and Andrews will start in the tournament’s main draw on Thursday, Oct. 3.
