The second “Audio Extra” of the 2004 Notre Dame baseball season now is available on the baseball page at und.com (see link above, also located at bottom of the main baseball page, under multi-media clips). Second-year assistant coach and recruiting coordinator David Grewe provides a look at some of Notre Dame’s position players, in particular senior catcher Javi Sanchez (Grewe and Sanchez have been a great success story during the past year-and-a-half as Sanchez continues to emerge at his new position).

Subscribers to the OCSN College Sports Pass can access the audio (with several more to come in future weeks).

Coach Grewe also discusses the likely domino effect in the Irish infield – with sophomore Greg Lopez now at shortstop, junior Matt Macri at third base, junior Matt Edwards at first and senior Joe Thaman making his debut as a lefthanded pitcher. Grewe’s topics also includes predictions for a strong year for the sophomore class, with Cody Rizzo and Matt Bransfield distinguising themselves at the plate in recent months.

In additon to discussing a handful of specific players, Grewe comments on the unique position the Irish find themselves in with so many options in the outfield and outlines the goals for the 2004 Notre Dame hitters (he any the other Irish coaches are not shying away from a philosophy of personal accountability and an aggressive team approach at the plate – no matter what the score).

The OCSN College Sports Pass entitles subscribers to internet audio and video clips for a wide variety of varsity sports and other special events (such as team banquets). Every game of the Notre Dame baseball season again will be available via online audio, with continuing access also available for men’s and women’s basketball and hockey broadcasts. Several other spring sports also will provide audio broadcasts at und.com, including the Irish softball team. Subscribers also can access archived video and audio clips, in addition to gaining access to other Sports Pass offerings from official school web sites that are part of the OCSN network.

Subscriptions to the College Sports Pass help facilitate continuing and future audio broadcast offerings for Notre Dame sports that previously did not have online audio offerings (such as volleyball, soccer, and softball). For more information about the Sports Pass, click on the audio/viedo link across the top menu bar at und.com.
