NOTRE DAME, Ind. — The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced on Thursday that Danielle Aragon and Annie Heffernan received USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic Awards. The USTFCCCA also revealed its Team All-Academic Awards, with the Irish men’s and women’s teams earning the distinction.

The USTFCCCA Individual All-Academic Award recognizes the student-athletes who own a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top-25 at regionals or as an All-American at the national meet.

Aragon and Heffernan join a group of 265 student-athletes — including 168 women — who meet the criteria.

Aragon, a co-captain, finished ninth in the ACC Championship and 52nd in the national championship, while Heffernan earned a sixth-place finish in the conference championship and 41st place in the NCAA Championship. Aragon and Heffernan each were named to the All-ACC Cross Country Team.

As a team, the Notre Dame men accrued a GPA of 3.43, becoming one of 189 men’s track and field programs to receive the award. The Irish women’s squad boasted a nearly-identical GPA of 3.48 and were one of 242 women’s teams to be honored.
