NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame hockey team will return to its outdoor roots on Tuesday, January 6, 2015, for its eighth annual “Practice on the Pond,” at Merrifield Park in Mishawaka, Indiana. The outdoor practice is scheduled to start at 5:00 p.m. and is free and open to the public.

This popular outdoor practice gives fans a chance to meet the Notre Dame hockey team and to get autographs from their favorite players. Free hot chocolate will be provided to all fans in attendance. Fans will also have a chance to win prizes, including team memorabilia and tickets to upcoming home games. Dress warm and come watch the Irish hockey team up close and personal.

This marks Notre Dame hockey’s eighth trip to practice outdoors at Merrifield Park with the first practice coming in January of the 2007-08 season.

The Irish are currently enjoying Christmas in Florida preparing for the College Hockey Classic in Estero, Florida, Dec. 28-29. The Irish will be using the outdoor practice session to help tune-up for their first weekend series of 2015, a home-and-home with regional rival Western Michigan. The Irish will face the Broncos in Kalamazoo on Jan. 9 while returning home to the Compton Family Ica Arena at 6:05 p.m. on Jan. 10 to play host to the Broncos.
