Anna Rico Joins Irish Family

Adds depth to Irish attack

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –  Doug & Lisa Jones Family Notre Dame women’s soccer head coach Nate Norman continues to bolster next year’s squad with the addition of forward Anna Rico, a grad transfer from Pitt. Rico brings a plethora of experience and a dynamic skill set to South Bend, while adding depth to the forward position.

“Anna is a great addition to our team. We have competed against Anna in the ACC and she has always been a very dangerous attacking player. She will be a fantastic fit to our team because she is such a versatile and dynamic player in the attack. She can combine, take players on 1v1 and score plenty of goals.  We are very excited and fortunate to have Anna join our team.”

Rico was one of 19 Pitt players in school history to record at least 20 career points with 23. She also ranked ninth in career points per game (0.52) while netting three career game-winning goals.

Playing in 45 games, with 35 starts for Pitt, Rico last appeared for the Panthers in the 2020 season, when she scored the second-most goals on the team with four. All-in-all, she tallied eight career goals while donning a Pitt uniform.

“Notre Dame has always had a culture of excellence, not only on the soccer field, but also in the classroom. To have the opportunity to add to the legacy of this program is an incredible honor,” Rico stated.

Lastly, Rico does a connection with current Irish players Kati Druzina and Korbin Albert, who have all played for the Cleveland Ambassadors program at one point in time.
