Andreas Forstner Chosen To CollegeSoccer.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-America Team

Notre Dame, Ind. – Notre Dame junior defender Andreas Forstner (Gerlinden, Germany) has been named to the CollegeSoccer.com Preseason Honorable Mention All-America team. He is one of nine BIG EAST players selected to the three teams (first, second and honorable mention squads were chosen).

A third team Great Lakes Region honoree by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) in 2000, Forstner will serve as a tri-captain during the upcoming 2001 campaign. A two-year starter, he started all 17 games a year ago and was twice named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as he helped Notre Dame to six shutouts during the season. Forstner copped to defensive player honors at the UNLV Fila/Snickers Rebel Classic in Las Vegas, Nev. as the Irish did not surrender a goal during the two tournament games its played against New Mexico and UNLV. He also was credited with two assists during the 2000 campaign.

Forstner heads into the 2001 campaign with a goal and two assists during his career.
