Andreach Named ACC Player of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The University of Notre Dame’s Julia Andreach earned the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Player of the Week award for her performance last week. This is her first Player of the Week award this season, and joins Page Freeman as another member of the Fighting Irish who have won the league’s weekly award. This is Andreach’s first weekly ACC award of her career.

Andreach finished last week 2-0 in singles play and 1-0 in doubles action as she helped the Irish earn a 2-1 week. She played an integral role in Notre Dame’s upset of No. 8 Miami, winning No. 2 singles over the 28th-ranked player, Daevenia Achong in straight sets (7-5, 6-2). She followed that up with a three-set victory over Victoria Allen from Florida State.

In her doubles action, she paired with Yashna Yellayi to earn a 6-2 win at No. 2 to help Notre Dame take the doubles point in the win over Miami. In her two other doubles matches during the week, she was tied at four before the doubles point was clinched and her match went unfinished against Florida State. She saw a similar fate against Oakland, with her team leading 5-1 when the match was retired.
