Notre Dame, Ind. — It may be a quiet time for the Notre Dame men’s golf team as finals week officially kicked off on Monday, but one former Irish golfer made news over this past weekend when 2006 alum Mark Baldwin tied for 42nd place in the Final Stage of the Web.com Tour Qualifying Tournament in Chandler, Arizona.

Baldwin finished in strong fashion on Sunday at the Whirlwind Golf Club, earning three birdies and two pars over the last five holes to card a 70, two-under par final round. Baldwin, who previously carded rounds of 69-67-68, finished at 14-under par (274) for the tournament.

More importantly, since Baldwin rallied to finish within the top-45 of the field, he is now guaranteed entry into the first eight events of the 2018 Web.com Tour regular season.

Keep in mind that the Web.com Tour acts as a direct feeder to the PGA Tour. The top-25 finishers on the money list at the end of the season earn PGA Tour cards, while another 25 cards will go to those players who earn the most cumulative money in the four Web.com Tour Finals events.
