Alugbue Tabbed With Second Weekly Honor Roll Selection

NOTRE DAME, Ind. –

Following a career match against No. 17 San Diego this past weekend Notre Dame volleyball player Toni Alugbue has earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for the second week in a row, the league office announced on Monday.

Alugbue, who earned all-tournament honors at the USC Classic Tournament in Los Angeles a week after being named MVP at the Shamrock Invitational, turned in a strong week against a pair of top-20 foes.

The Del Aire, Calif., native, who was playing in front of friends and family, started the weekend off with 10 kills (.304 hitting percentage), two service aces, three digs and two blocks in a 3-0 win over Cal Poly.

Alugbue stepped her game up for her next two opponents as she set a new career standard with 22 kills in a close 3-2 loss to the nationally-ranked Toreros. She also tied her career high with 12 digs for her third double-double of the campaign and chipped in with four blocks and three assists.

In the weekend finale, Alugbue had 13 kills and nine digs while hitting .346 against the Trojans.

For the year Alugbue sits third in the league in kills (129) and fourth in kills per set (4.03).

Alugbue and the Irish return home this weekend for the Golden Dome Invitational, where they will welcome in Xavier, Kansas and Loyola Marymount. A full schedule and info for the tournament can be found here.
