Sophomore Toni Alugbue has earned recognition from the BIG EAST for the third week in a row.

Alugbue Honored By BIG EAST For Third Consecutive Week

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – For the third consecutive week Notre Dame volleyball player Toni Alugbue has earned a spot on the BIG EAST’s Weekly Honor Roll, the league office announced on Monday.

Alugbue, who was selected to the all-tournament team at the Golden Dome Invitational, led the Irish to a 2-1 record on the weekend, highlighted by a 3-1 win over Kansas, who entered the contest riding a nine-match winning streak. For the three matches, the Del Aire, Calif., product tallied 48 kills, 38 digs and nine blocks. Against the Jayhawks, Alugbue pounded out 20 kills while hitting .340. She also added 10 digs and four blocks. Algubue had three double-doubles on the weekend to up her total to six this season. She has had three 20-plus-dig performances and leads the team in kills with 177.

The sophomore has now appeared on the all-tournament teams for the Shamrock Invitational, the USC Classic Tournament and the Golden Dome Invitational, earning MVP honors at the Shamrock Invitational.

Alugbue and the rest of her Irish teammates kick off BIG EAST play on the road this weekend as they travel to Cincinnati on Friday before playing at Louisville on Sunday.
