All-ACC Academic Honors Earned By Seven Irish Rowers

The University of Notre Dame rowing team earned seven spots on the All-Atlantic Coast Conference Academic Team, as announced by the conference on Wednesday, June 28, 2017.

Seniors Erin Boxberger, Gretchen Bruggeman, Samantha Hedrick and Catherine Wagner, along with juniors Reilly Kearney, Treasa O’Tighearnaigh and Lauren Saunee are the seven student-athletes honored by the ACC. To be eligible for consideration for the All-ACC Academic Team, a student-athlete, regardless of classification, must have earned a 3.00 grade point average for the previous semester and maintained a 3.00 cumulative average during her academic career.

Boxberger, Bruggeman, Kearney, O’Tighearnaigh, Saunee and Wagner were all members of Notre Dame’s Varsity Eight throughout the 2016-17 season. The Irish finished second at the ACC Championship, earned a spot in the NCAA Championship regatta and eventually finished 16th in the nation.

Hedrick served as the coxswain of the Second Varsity Eight this past season, which finished third at the ACC Championship and 17th at the NCAA Championship.
