Notre Dame, Ind. – Alicia Roane has been named assistant athletic trainer in at the University of Notre Dame. She joins the Irish sports medicine staff following a three-month stint in a similar position at North Carolina A&T.

Roane received her master’s degree in sports medicine from Georgia State University in August of 2004. While at Georgia State, she served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer for two years and served as the primary trainer for the softball, women’s soccer and indoor and outdoor track and field teams. In addition, she assisted staff members in the day-to-day operation of the office.

A magna cum laude graduate of Morgan State University, Roane earned her bachelor’s of science degree in heath education with a concentration in athletic training in 2002. She was a student athletic trainer for four years in the athletic department and worked with the cross country, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, football, softball and cheerleading programs. Prior to her graduation, she served a three-month internship as a student trainer for the Union Memorial Sports Medicine Clinic in Baltimore, Md.

She is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
