Albrecht's Even Par 72 Leads Irish

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Led by sophomore Emma Albrecht’s even par 72, the Fighting Irish women’s golf team shot a second round 298 (+10) in the 2017 Florida State Match-Up at the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course (Par 72/6,260 yards).

On a day in which each member of the Notre Dame lineup took at least two strokes off of her first round score, the team combined to take 17 shots off of its first round score and remains in 12th with one round to play (315-298-613).

Florida State (282-276-558) took over the lead on the second day of play, with South Carolina now in second (278-283-561). On the individual leaderboard, Florida State’s Morgane Metraux shot a 67 to take over first place (70-67-137).

The tournament features a unique setup that also includes each team being paired with another team in pursuit of the Match-Up championship. Notre Dame has been paired with Oklahoma for this season’s tournament and the Sooners shot a 289 on Saturday to move into fifth.

Leading The Irish Lineup

Notre Dame sophomore Emma Albrecht once again led the Notre Dame lineup, shooting an even par 72 to move into a tie for 21st.

Albrecht’s second round included three birdies, 12 pars and three bogeys. She played her final 12 holes of the day at two-under par and she is now tied for eighth in the field with 24 pars through two rounds.

Albrecht continued to take advantage of the par-5’s, once again playing those four holes at a two-under par pace in the second round. She improved to four-under par for the tournament on par-5’s, which is tied for 12th in the field.

Notre Dame At The FSU Match-Up

This season marks Notre Dame’s second appearance in the Florida State Match-Up.

The Fighting Irish previously took part in the 2013 Florida State’s Match-Up, which was played at the Southwood Golf Course in Tallahassee, Florida (Feb. 15-17). The Irish placed seventh overall and, paired with Michigan, placed fifth in the Match-Up standings. Lindsey Weaver tied for eighth to lead the Irish lineup (218/+2).

The third and final round of the Florida State Match-Up will be played on Sunday, February 12. Live scoring for the second round will available via Golfstat .

Following the Florida State Match-Up, Notre Dame will play in the University of Wisconsin’s Westbrook Spring Invitational. The two-day event will be played on Feb. 26-27 at the Westbrook Village Golf Club in Peoria, Arizona.
