PEORIA, Ariz.
— The Notre Dame women’s golf team shot a final round, four-under par 284 to finish sixth at the Westbrook Spring Invitational at the Vistas Course at the Westbrook Village Golf Club.

Junior Emma Albrecht fired a final round, two-under par 70 to finish the tournament at nine-under par and place fourth (70-67-70=207). Albrecht’s 207 ties for the lowest 54-hole score in program history, matching Nicole Zhang’s 207 (-9) at the 2010-11 Mary Fossum Invitational.

“Emma continues to just keep playing solid consistent golf and it is so fun watch,” head coach Susan Holt said. “She is such a competitor and is always looking to improve each and every time she competes.”

With the sixth place showing, Notre Dame (288-280-284=852) posted the second-lowest team score for a 54-hole tournament in program history.

“As a team we dug a pretty big whole to get out of after shooting even par the first round,” Holt added. “Typically I would be pleased with that. On this course it’s about making birdies and we just couldn’t keep up with the majority of the field. There are plenty of positives to take from this and we will get back on campus and continue to keep working hard.”

The Irish picked up head-to-head wins over Indiana, Kansas State, Illinois, Washington State, UC Davis, Oregon, Delaware, Kansas and Iowa. Oklahoma (-25) won the tournament, followed by Ohio State (-24) and Nebraska (-21).

On the individual leaderboard, Ohio State’s Jaclyn Lee took medalist honors (-19).

LEADING THE IRISH

Albrecht rounded out her best career 54-hole tournament with Monday’s two-under par 70. Her final round included 14 pars, three birdies and a bogey.

Also scoring for the Irish in the third round were Mia Ayer (71), Maddie Rose Hamilton (71) and Isabella DiLisio (72).
