Notre Dame, Ind. – The Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced its list of Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars on Wednesday, with Notre Dame men’s golf standout Ben Albin making the prestigious list.
A total of 265 Division I student-athletes were dubbed All-America Scholars. To be eligible, an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 50-percent of his team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 in Division I and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his university.
Last season, Albin averaged 73.13 strokes per round while earning two top-10 finishes on the year. Albin finished third at the Badger Invitational (207, -9) and seventh at the Fighting Irish Classic (208, -2). In addition, Albin produced the most rounds in the 60’s of any other Irish player.
Career wise, Albin ranks third all-time in stroke average at 73.10 and eighth in percentage of rounds counted (.889).
Lastly, Albin will help lead a talented group of eight returners to the squad for the 2018-19 season.
