Ahern and Schettig Sweep ACC Weekly Honors

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – As announced by the ACC on Tuesday afternoon, Emma Schettig and Madison Ahern have earned conference weekly honors. Schettig earned defensive player of the week while Ahern earned offensive honors.

Emma Schettig anchored a Notre Dame defensive unit that held #11 Duke to its lowest scoring game of the season, allowing just six goals, including just one over the final 30 minutes of play. Schettig did a little bit of everything in the impressive win, recording three draw controls, three ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Madison Ahern matched her career high in goals with six, leading the Irish attack in the dominant 14-6 win over #11 Duke in Charlotte on Saturday. Ahern’s six goals are tied for the most any Irish player has scored in a game this season and were the most scored by any ACC player against a ranked opponent over the last week. Ahern was a perfect 3-for-3 on free-position attempts.

The Irish are back in action when they take on No. 2 Syracuse in Syracuse on Saturday March 11 at noon.
