Action Resumes Friday For Women's Swimming And Diving

Nov. 5, 2009

NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Notre Dame women’s swimming and diving team will hit the road for the first time this season with a trip to Purdue this Friday (Nov. 6). The Irish (0-1) were last in action Oct. 10, falling at home against Michigan.

The upcoming meet will begin at 5:30 p.m. (ET) with live stats available at UND.com. For up-to-the-minute scores and results, sign up for IRISH ALERTS text-messaging services at UND.com.

Notre Dame is 5-6-1 all-time against the Boilermakers after winning the last three meetings. Purdue was handed a 189-111 defeat from the Fighting Irish during the 2008-09 season.

“Purdue is a team much like Notre Dame as they’re improving quickly,” Irish head coach Brian Barnes said. “It’s going to be interesting to go on the road for the first time this season after being off for a few weeks. Our team is hungry to compete.”

The Irish stayed on campus to train during fall break a few weeks back, and Barnes was impressed by the efforts across the board by his team.

“I’m pleased about our consistency, which is something I continually preach to this team,” Barnes said. “Good routines and consistency will give us the success we’re shooting for at the end of the year. We have a team that I’ve been pretty jazzed up about these past few weeks after seeing what they accomplish on a daily basis.”
