The Atlantic Coast Conference announced its full 2019- men’s basketball schedule on Thursday, Sept. 12, during its signature ‘All-ACC’ show on the ACC Network. The season not only marks the first year of ACC hoops on the ACC Network, but the first time the ACC will feature a 20-game conference schedule.
The slate of games will prove to be a challenge for all of the teams among the nation’s best basketball conference, particularly for the Fighting Irish in early February. In a key section of the season, Notre Dame will face three consecutive ACC road games for the first time since 2013-14 – all of which will be played in a seven-day span (at Clemson, Sunday, Feb. 9; at Virginia, Tuesday, Feb. 11; at Duke, Saturday, Feb. 15). The Irish will then cap that run of road games with their fourth game in nine days when they face North Carolina in Purcell Pavilion on ESPN’s Big Monday (Feb. 17).
That match up on Big Monday with the Tar Heels will cap a two-game series with North Carolina that begins the first day of college basketball when the Irish travel to Chapel Hill on Nov. 6 to tip off the year on the ACC Network.
Notre Dame’s traditional repeat ACC opponents Boston College (home, Dec. 7; away, Feb. 26) and Georgia Tech (away, Jan. 15; home, Feb. 1) are joined this year by North Carolina, Syracuse (away, Jan. 4; home Jan. 22), Florida State (away, Jan. 25; home, March 4) and Wake Forest (home, Jan. 29; away, Feb. 29).
The Irish will play four of their first six ACC games on the road this season, then shift to a section of the schedule with four of five ACC games at Purcell Pavilion. The aforementioned trip of three straight road games ending with the North Carolina home match begins the end of the regular season when the Irish will cap the year at Purcell Pavilion with four home games over a six-game stretch.
